Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge may be our future queen, but before her husband Prince William takes the throne, it seems she has some big changes in mind.
- Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has reportedly grown more confident in her royal role and duties.
- Some suggest that she is ready to overhaul certain royal rules to make way for spending more time with her children.
- In other royal news, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced the sad passing of their beloved dog Lupo.
And when it comes to breaking with tradition, it seems she might have a very good reason.
What is the Duchess of Cambridge planning to change?
As a devoted mother to her three children, Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (5) and Prince Louis (2), it’s no surprise that Catherine isn’t keen on spending extended periods of time apart from her family.
But as Queen, tradition dictates that this is the case. Clevver News’ Emile Ennis Jr has told of how a royal source opened up to US Weekly. The insider reportedly claimed that "Kate 'may change some of the outdated royal rules when she becomes Queen consort,' and plans to meet with more members of the public at royal engagements.’”

They went on to comment on how Catherine has been “very present on social media” and has grown more “comfortable in doing interviews and virtual chats”. The duchess is described as being “keen to continue that in the future as well”.
In moving more royal duties online, the Duchess would be able to continue reaching out to people and arguably even more than usual. It would also help alleviate the pressure her royal schedule would place on her relationship with her children.

The insider spoke of how “family means everything” to Catherine. They added that “one of her biggest worries about the future is not being there for George, Charlotte and Louis."
Especially given the amount of quality time the Duke and Duchess have been able to spend with their children during the pandemic, this would no doubt cause great sadness to the royal couple.
Is the Duchess of Cambridge in a position to overhaul these rules?
Catherine has been increasingly taking on greater roles and duties as a senior member of the Royal Family. According to a royal insider, Catherine has been growing in confidence since the early years of her relationship and marriage to Prince William.
They claim that Catherine’s newfound belief in her abilities and position could mean she is able to drive significant changes to the traditional royal system.
Us Weekly’s source has stated that the Royal Family “could not be more pleased” at how Catherine has flourished.
How has the Duchess been performing public duties?
During the pandemic restrictions have been imposed across the country. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were upon the first royals to resume public duties. The pair have continued to lend support and boost morale.
Now with England’s second lockdown, Kensington Palace have not confirmed what decision the couple have made. Though it’s believed that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will likely have remained attending school alongside their friends and classmates.
The Duke of Cambridge is currently second in line to the throne. Whilst we have no idea when he will be crowned king, it seems clear that Catherine intends to be a life-changing and courageous queen.
