The Duchess of Cambridge was also snapped at Wimbldon on Friday 2nd July. The Duchess was seated alongside Joe Wicks and Ian Hewitt in the prestigious Royal Box where she snapped laughing and enjoying the match. It was also at this event that Kate Middleton whipped out rarely-seen accessory at Wimbledon in unusual royal moment.
Reportedly, Kate Middleton's husband, Prince William, does not need to self-isolate and will continue undertaking socially-distanced engagements, including the NHS Big Tea.
Prince William has already had Covid as he caught the virus last Spring. William was still able to continue his royal duties over the phone and online while he was treated by royal doctors.
After he caught the virus, Prince William revealed that he had been hit 'pretty hard' and even struggled to breathe at one point.
Prince William will be taking part in another royal engagement as the UK celebrates the NHS's 73rd birthday. A service of thanksgiving will be held at St Paul's Cathedral today which will be followed by the NHS Big Tea at the Buckingham Palace gardens.
Kate and William, are both patrons of the charity group, NHS Charities Together and it was expected that Duchess Kate would be attending this event.
Alexandra Heys, Nurse Ward Manager in the Respiratory High Care Unit at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spoke about how much this event means to the NHS staff.
Alexandra said, "The special tea at Buckingham Palace means a lot to NHS staff who have been through so much over the last year and I feel so honoured to be meeting The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today. I know from personal experience that the past year has taken a huge toll on NHS staff who have worked incredibly hard to take care of patients during a challenging time.
“My team at the Respiratory High Care Unit has cared for over 300 very sick Covid patients, all of whom required dedicated around the clock care. All NHS staff have gone above and beyond, providing additional care in difficult circumstances, including connecting isolated and very sick patients with their families in their most challenging moments. We have all been through a lot, so seeing the public get behind the NHS Big Tea on such as massive scale is an immense boost and really makes a difference.”
