Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring was actually originally meant for someone else
- The Duchess of Cambridge's beautiful sapphire ring she received from Prince William when they got engaged was actually meant for Duchess Meghan.
- Prince Harry inherited the ring but ‘selflessly’ gave it to his brother before he got engaged to Duchess Catherine.
- This follows royal news that the Duchess of Sussex wore a very special bracelet during trip to Botswana.
Prince William became engaged to Duchess Kate seven years before his brother popped the question to Duchess Meghan, and turns out the timing determined which brother got to propose with Princess Diana’s ring.
A recent Amazon Prime documentary has revealed that Prince Harry was actually the one who inherited the beautiful sapphire ring, but he selflessly gave it to his brother as he got engaged before him.

In The Diana Story, the Princess of Wales’ former butler Paul Burrell opened up about Prince Harry’s decision, explaining that it was something he would expecting from Diana herself.
He said: ‘Harry said to him: “Wouldn’t it be fitting if she had mummy’s ring?”
‘Then one day that ring will be sat on the throne of England. Harry gave up his precious treasure.’
‘His one thing he kept from his mother, he gave to his brother. That’s selfless, kind and exactly who Diana was’, Paul continued.

A source also revealed to the Daily Star that after Princess Diana passed away, the two boys got to pick a keepsake from Kensington Palace before moving in with their dad in St James’s Palace. ‘Prince William picked his mum’s Cartier watch, and Harry picked her sapphire and diamond engagement ring’, the source said.
‘But they had an agreement that whoever got engaged first would have Diana’s ring – and of course that was William and Kate.’

However, the Duke of Sussex still managed to include a special tribute to his mother on the ring he used to propose to his now wife.
The Prince included two smaller round-cut diamonds from Princess Diana's personal collection that flank the middle gem – a diamond from Botswana, which Duchess Meghan said is a ‘special’ place to her and Harry.
