Where was The Great British Bake Off 2021 filmed?

Like almost every other TV program on the planet this year, The Great British Bake Off’s production schedule was heavily impacted by the pandemic.

The GBBO team always film during the summer and wrap production before the show debuts in the Autumn. This is an unusual format for a competition show as it means that the winner of the 2021 show already knows they have won.

Channel 4 reportedly created a COVID-19 bubble by hiring out the luxurious Down Hall Hotel in Essex for six weeks, to minimize the chances of cast and crew contracting the virus during filming.  The show adopted a similar strategy when they filmed the 2020 show during the pandemic last year.

According to insiders, the 2021 experience was a total blast, with both staff and talent enjoying parties on an almost nightly basis. Now that sounds like our kind of quarantine!
