The new Home Alone trailer has finally been released for the latest sequel in the Home Alone franchise. Here is everything you need to know about Home Sweet Home Alone...

As the festive season draws closer there really is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than watching some of the best Christmas movies on Hulu.

However, a new addition to the Christmas movies on Disney Plus is set to delight fans of the Home Alone franchise as a brand new movie is set to be released just in time for Christmas!

The Home Alone series has always had a special place in our hearts as one of the most iconic festive movies of all time, and the new trailer of the film promises to be just as fantastic as the first three movies. So here is everything you may need to know about this new film titled, Home Sweet Home Alone...

What is the plot for the new Home Alone and how will it differ to the original?

This plot is set in the same universe as the original three movies. This means that the plot, although will be similar, will not be a straightforward remake of the original movies that starred Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister.

The plot seems to follow a similar narrative to the first movies and follows a story about a Christmas home invasion and a young boy that is left behind to defend the house from the burglars.

One big change in this film is that the main protagonist is English, whereas previous incarnations of this lead character have been American. The burglars in this new film are also a married couple which is a key change from the original films.

A trailer for the Home Sweet Home Alone movie was released on October 12, 2021. the trailer shows that the new film will follow a similar format to the original two movies, but instead will star Archie Yates in a Kevin McCallister type role.

New Home Alone cast—who's in it?

Leading the cast is Archie Yates who will be playing Max Mercer who is accidentally left at home by his parents as the family travels to Tokyo. Many fans will recognize Archie as Yorkie, the best friend of JoJo in the Oscar-winning film JoJo Rabbit (2019).

Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney will be playing married couple Pam and Jeff Fritzovski who attempt to burgle Max's home in order to steal a precious heirloom.

Irish comedian Aisling Bea, who starred across from Paul Rudd in Netflix's Living with Yourself, will be playing Max's mother Carol Mercer.

Other cast members include Kenan Thompson as Gavin, Ally Maki as Mei, Pete Holmes as Blake Mercer, Chris Parnell as Uncle Stu, Timothy Simons as Hunter, Andy Daly as Mike, and Mikey Day as a Priest.

Will Macaulay Culkin feature in the Home Alone remake?

There have been many rumors that Macaulay Culkin will be returning to reprise his classic role as Kevin McCallister.

The fact that this film takes place within the same universe and Buzz McCallister's role is being reprised, by the same actor, are both promising signs that the famous child actor may be returning to the role.

However, Macaulay Culkin also quit acting at the age of 15 and only came back to his acting career nearly a decade later when he was 24. Since then, the actor has been very selective about the films and television shows he stars in, so it is unclear if he would want to reprise a role that he played nearly 30 years ago.

His involvement in the film has not been confirmed by Disney or the star so for now, we just have to keep our fingers crossed!

Will anyone else from the original cast feature in the Home Alone reboot?

Devin Ratray will be reprising his role as Buzz McCallister in the new film Home Sweet Home Alone.

Buzz McCallister is the older brother of Kevin McCallister and was a key role in both Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).

In the new film trailer, Buzz is all grown up and is working as a police officer who appears to be investigating the burglary that takes place during the film.
