Michelle Obama will star in season 8 of Black-ish, the ABC comedy, which started in 2014.

The former first lady, now businesswoman, said that she's a massive fan of the sitcoms 'wit and all-around brilliance'.

Sharing a picture of Michelle with the cast, on the show's Instagram account, they captioned it with, "#Blackish is going all out for the final season! We are honored to have trailblazer @michelleobama join us as an upcoming guest star."

Fans could barely contain their excitement as they liked the picture and commented on it.

Black-ish, created by Kenya Barris, follows the lives of an upper-class African-American family—starring Tracee Ellis Ross.

Excited about her guest appearance Michelle shared the photo on her Instagram story and said, "I’ve long been a fan of @blackishabc‘s wit and all-around brilliance, and it was such a thrill to join in for an episode. I can’t wait for you all to see it!"

In the picture, the cast, as well as Michelle, all have Covid face shields on, while CNN have reported that Michelle is playing herself.

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross also shared the photo and said, "Oh it's going to be an amazing final season. We will have the glorious @michelleobama as our guest!!! THAT'S HOW YOU CLOSE OUT AN EPIC 8 YEARS."

Fans of the show commented on the Instagram post, with one saying, "It’s gon be GOOOOOD." While others simply said "OMG."

However, some fans were confused that it would be the final season, with one writing, "Why y'all leaving us??" and another with, "Not the final season" and also added crying emojis.

ABC announced early this year that this season would be the last of Black-ish, with the shows creator writing on Instagram, “To all the people in the world I love, honor, respect and care for it is both exciting and bittersweet to share that black-ish been renewed by ABC for it’s eighth… and final season."

“In this day and age it is rare to get to decide when your show should come to an end, and we are grateful along with ABC to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and amazingly stellar cast coming back to close this chapter out with us the right way!”

This isn't Michelle's first appearance in a TV show, in 2009 she appeared in Parks and Recreation, where she meets main character, Leslie.
