Fans online have rushed to congratulate the couple, saying, “Bennifer 2.0 is the only good thing we have right now,” and, “Bennifer never dies.”

Let’s take a look back at their love story, two decades in the making…

What do we know about Jlo’s engagement ring?

Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring is an emerald cut, pale green diamond. The stand out piece is utterly stunning, and not the first time green has been an important shade for her.

Anybody else remember that Versace dress? And just recently Jennifer Lopez' green coat served elegance beyond compare.

The superstar actress, singer and entertainer shared a first look at her gorgeous ring online, posting a video and writing, “Major announcement!!!!”

Ben mustn’t be one to keep things too traditional as the pale green engagement ring keeps on trend with his choice of colored diamonds.

Nearly two decades ago, when Bennifer first dated, the pair were engaged in November 2002.

Back then he proposed with a 6.1-carat pink diamond, reportedly worth $2.5 million.

When did Bennifer get back together? A history of Jlo and Ben’s relationship

Jlo and Ben were part of the early noughties power couples, along with the likes of Beyonce and Jay Z and Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt.

They first started dating in 2001 after meeting on the set of their movie, Gigli.

Their relationship was highly publicized and Jennifer’s hugely successful album, This is me… Then, drew inspiration from their relationship.

Ben even famously appeared in the music video for the song Jenny from the Block.

After getting engaged in November 2002, they postponed their wedding in September 2003 and officially split in January 2004.

Jennifer wrote about the breakup in her 2014 book, True Love, writing, "Ben and I split up at the moment when I thought we were committing to each other forever, it was my first real heartbreak, it felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest.”

But some things are just meant to be and, after splitting from baseball star Alex Rodriguez, Jlo and Ben started to appear in paparazzi shots together.

The two remained friendly so it might have been friends supporting friends—until Jennifer posted a photo of the pair kissing on her Instagram in July 2021 to confirm they had rekindled their romance.

How many times has Jennifer Lopez been engaged?

Including the new happy announcement, Jlo has been engaged six times, married three times.

Her first engagement (and marriage) was to Ojani Noa. Jlo was married to him from February 1997 to January 1998, and met him while at friend Gloria Estefan's restaurant.

He proposed with a $100,000 marquise-cut diamond ring.

The second time down the aisle for Jlo was to Cris Judd, a dancer.

He popped the question with an emerald-cut ring, which featured smaller diamonds across the band, and was valued to be just over $100,000.

The third engagement ring was from Ben Affleck in 2002. As mentioned, they never made it down the aisle the first time.

Fourth engagement ring (and third marriage) was Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony, with whom she had her twins, Emme and Maximillian.

Jlo was next engaged to Alex Rodriquez (or ARod, as he is known by sports fans). The pair were not wed and led to the rekindling of Bennifer.
