Sometimes the best bras aren’t the most expensive, the fanciest, or even the most supportive. Case in point: The runaway success of Figleaves Millie Lace Bralette.

In this review we’re putting the spotlight on bralettes, and more specifically Figleaves’ Millie.

  • One of the most inclusive styles we’ve tried, this bra will suit all bust sizes
  • The full-coverage shape provides plenty of lift, as well as wire-free support
  • Those with larger busts may find this lacks enough support for busy everyday wear, but works well as a weekend, lounge or sleep bra

We first spied the Millie Lace Bralette on our Instagram feeds, and couldn’t quite believe a bra so pretty could have such a reasonable price tag. The fact it was being worn by women of varying bust and dress sizes intrigued us too, as high-street bralettes don’t tend to cater for bigger boobs.

When we received our sample, it was love at first sight. This is the kind of bra that looks just as good under clothes as it does without them. It boosts smaller busts and larger busts alike, for a full, rounded and lifted shape.

We love the selection of colours in the range too. They change season to season, but at the time of writing the bralette is available in black, white, navy and emerald green.

How comfortable is Figleaves’ Millie Lace Bralette?

The soft fabric makes this bralette a joy to wear (consider it the pyjama of the lingerie world) boasting just enough stretch to keep everything in place, without feeling at all restrictive.

Thanks to the wide shoulder straps, the weight of your bust is evenly distributed in this comfortable bra, meaning no niggling grooves in your shoulders come 5pm.

How supportive is Figleaves’ Millie Lace Bralette?

One of the main reasons those with bigger boobs steer clear of bralettes is that they don’t offer much in the way of support, but the Millie is here to debunk that myth.

There’s no underwiring (and therefore no painful digging in - thank you Figleaves) but there is an elastic underband which provides a mini shelf for your bust to rest on. Combined with the wide shoulder straps, stretchy fabric and substantial fabric band, it provides a comforting amount of support.

If you like a bra that will hoist your bust up to your chin, this isn’t the one for you, but if you’re looking for one that lifts, holds and creates impressive cleavage then add to basket - pronto.

Of course, the support level of your bra is dependent on when and where wearing it. This should provide enough support for bigger busts on lowkey days and lounging at home, but you’re likely to feel the jiggle if you’re dashing around (in which case you'd do better with one of the best sports bras anyway). Those with smaller busts should find it provides enough encapsulation for all-day wear.

Is Figleaves Millie Lace Bralette true to size?

As is the case with most bralettes, the Millie isn’t available in cup or back sizes, which is good news if you have been trying and failing to get to grips with how to measure bra size at home. Instead, it’s comes in XS-XL, which is equivalent to a size 6 through to a 22.

We’ve found that this runs reliably true to size, so would recommend buying the same size you would normally buy in tops.

Of course there are always exceptions, and if you have a particularly big bust, you may need to size up.

What are the washing instructions?

Bad news for anyone who often wonders how to wash bras and then pops theirs into a spin cycle with the rest of their clothes anyway: Figleaves’ Millie Lace Bralette, like many bras, is hand wash only.

That being said, we have washed ours in the machine (sorry Figleaves!) and it hasn’t caused the fabric to stretch or bobble so far.

As with all bras, the kinder you are to them, the longer they’ll last, so we’d still recommend sticking to a hand wash.

Is Figleaves Millie Lace Bralette good value for money?

Priced at just £15, you won’t find a better value bralette on the high-street. The quality of lace can often be poor at the lower end of the underwear market but this is soft, substantial and not at all scratchy.

If you want to complete the set, the coordinating knickers come in at a very purse friendly £8. It’s no surprise reviewers are reporting that they’ve bought theirs in more than one colour.
