Sometimes we just need a change in our lives and what better way to do it than with a brand new hairdo? Long hair gives you the freedom to try more hairstyles, but once summer weather hits, long hair can add weight and heat. Now that our calendars are starting to fill up again, what better way to make a new statement than with a fresh chop.
Bobs are considered the world's most popular hairstyle for their easy maintenance and ability to transform your entire look. There are so many different short hairstyles for us to choose from, though, that finding the best bob hairstyle can be overwhelming. There's one bob style that's shining above the rest this season, and that's the Paper Cut bob.

What is the Paper Cut bob?
You probably know this hairstyle by its other name: the blunt bob. While the bob is a classic style, the blunt bob gets its name from the sharp line that the hairstyle creates. No layers are in sight, and instead, it appears as one single layer. Since it's only one layer too, maintaining the look is pretty easy—simply get a trim every once in a while to maintain that clean straight edge look.
The hairstyle has become beloved by most, including celebrities like Regina King and Reese Witherspoon, for its ability to accentuate the features of your face. If you've been experimenting with different hair colors and layers, the Paper Cut bob will give your hair a "reset" by chopping it all to one even length.
For those with thin and/or fine hair, a Paper Cut style will help give the illusion that your hair is thicker and more voluminous.
There is no set length for the blunt bob either. Whether you decided to cut your hair chin-length, shoulder-length, or into a "lob" as long as it follows the sharp one-layer rule, then it's considered a Paper Cut bob. You can also have fun mixing in bangs, curling them, or rock a simple straightened look. No matter how you decide to style your hair, this look will help create a sleek, chic, and edgy appearance.
Regina recently showed off the sleek look during this year's Oscars ceremony. For her, she opted for a chin-length look that can really help accentuate your facial features.
If you prefer a softer look that's less blunt, Reese pulls this off well by adding in a subtle curl and wavy appearance. She also added a side bang to her look to help frame her face.
Cate Blanchett goes in the opposite direction of Reese and chooses to style her hair straight with a side part. Since the paper cut bob is so versatile you can opt for a side part or middle part depending on what your face shape and preference is.
Natalie Portman has also been rocking the Paper Cut bob for months now and has seemed to master the various different ways you can style it. For the Oscars this year, she opted for a middle part and a slight wave to her hair creating a softer appearance. In other instances, the actress has been seen wearing the hairstyle similar to that of Reese with her hair parted to the side and some added curls. Natalie is also no stranger to wear a pin-straight look too like Regina with a middle part, which creates a sharper appearance.
Rather than let your long hair weigh you down this summer, consider a shorter hairdo that comes with less maintenance and never goes out of style.
