Jo Malone launches new scent that’s inspired by autumn

Anything new from Jo Malone has got our attention straightaway.

Over the years, the classic fragrance house has produced some of the most iconic scents that have graced our dressing tables.

And the signature black and cream designs, which can always be spotted a mile-off, add an elegant touch to any tote bag or console table it’s added to.

So when there’s a new launch afoot, it gets snapped up pretty quickly.

While the popular perfume house has a cohort of steadfast scents that make up the core collection, including the much-loved Pomegranate Noir, Lime Basil & Mandarin and Wood Sage & Sea Salt, they also regularly add to their offerings with a bunch of seasonal appearances.

So, now that the air is getting crisp and the leaves are starting to change colour meaning we’re truly into the autumn season, the perfumery has dropped a new release to give us something to smile about.

Inspired by the autumn harvest, the new Poppy & Barley scent is exactly what you’ll want to be wearing over your cream turtle-neck jumper and rust longline wool coat.

Blending fruit, floral and musk, the fragrance starts with a sharp top note of ripe and juicy blackberries.

It is then lightened up by a heart note of fresh-smelling poppy to give it a crisp floral scent, before blending into a deep base note of soft, cottony barley, which adds a musky cereal tone to the spray.

The brand also suggests layering the new fragrance with other classics like Wood Sage & Sea Salt or Myrrh & Tonka to add a freshness or a creaminess to your scent.

You can get your hands on the collection nationwide from £32, with two sizes of cologne and a body & hand wash available – so you can keep the addictive smell going all day long.

Giving her thoughts on the new release, Jo Malone’s head of global fragrance Celine Roux, says: ‘When I smell Poppy & Barley I am taken to the heart of an English meadow during the harvest.

‘It’s the end of every summer when the fields are a sea of gold and I picture lively light poppies moving and dancing in the breeze.’
