In terms of notable Inauguration Day looks, Kerry Washington's 'Biden-Harris' manicure nailed it. We've not exactly been short of inspiration over the past few days – from Kamala Harris' inauguration outfit to Michelle Obama's inauguration hair and Lady Gaga's crown braid. But Washington's nails have filled the craving for something a bit more daring.

The Little Fires Everywhere star, 43, shared a sneaky peek at her look for the Celebrating America TV special, honoring President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, by posting a photo of her plaid suit and patriotic manicure (scroll right on the image below) on Instagram.

Kerry Washington's nail art and fashion look

For the occasion, celebrity manicurist Kim Truong— who’s also worked with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Jennifer Aniston — painted Washington’s nails deep red and added tiny red, white and blue stars to both her middle fingers.

She then painted the Biden-Harris campaign logo on Washington's ring fingers, separating both last names between each finger. Needless to say, social media has gone wild for this show-stopping nail art.

Everything about Washington's style was considered and purposeful on Wednesday night. Another meaningful part of the look she chose to attend President Jo Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' inauguration celebration was the checked jacket and pants by  Autumn Adeigbo. The black female designer is renowned for sustainable fashion made in NYC by woman-owned production facilities.

Washington's outfit choice echoed that of First Lady Dr Jill Biden and Harris who made a nod to sustainable and multicultural fashion.

For the inauguration concert the first lady wore an all-white outfit comprising a dress, coat and matching white gloves by Gabriela Hearst. The New York-based designer has been vocal about responsible design since launching her eponymous womenswear brand in 2015.

Meanwhile, Harris continued her support of Black American designers by wearing an all-black tuxedo-style coat and a glittering cocktail dress by Sergio Hudson (the same designer who designed Michelle Obama's suit from earlier in the day).

As the celebratory mood of the Biden-Harris inauguration continues, expect to see more iterations of Washington's patriotic manicure crop up around the country. We're 100 per cent here for it.
