The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge followed in Diana’s footsteps during Pakistan tour with emotional hospital visit
So sweet!

This week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been visiting Pakistan as part of their royal tour.
- Today, the royal couple visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Lahore.
- Prince William’s late mother Princess Diana famously visited too, where she was photographed comforting sick children.
- This follows royal news that Princess Eugenie shared lovely tribute to mum Sarah Ferguson on her 60th birthday.
To mark the occasion, the Kensington Royal Instagram account shared a throwback photo of Princess Diana reaching out to a young child during one of her visits to the hospital.
The poignant photo’s caption read, ‘In 1996 and 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, a state-of-the-art cancer facility located in the centre of Lahore.’
‘Over twenty years on, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit the children’s ward at the hospital today to spend time with patients undergoing treatment, and speak to their families.’
One royal fan praised the post, writing ‘It’s amazing that both kids continue with her work. Great William and Harry👏❤️’
Another said, ‘My heart💓 Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment!’
Earlier on the tour, royal fans also loved the way the Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to Princess Diana with her strikingly similar outfit.
Royal reporter Rebecca English shared a first look at their visit to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, were the Duchess wore a matching toy tiara on her head as they visited a young girl called Wafia Rehmani.
Before heading to the hospital, the Duke and Duchess were also seen reading a story to children at SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan.
The organisation provides a home and family structure to over 150 young girls and boys, and also promotes the healthy development of children. This is home to many orphaned or abandoned children.
Twitter users loved the clip shared by Kensington Palace, with one writing, ‘I can totally see them doing this for their kids every night’.
Another added, ‘How lucky are Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to have a Mummy and Daddy like this. Wonderful to see how caring they are.’
We're looking forward to more updates from the Duke and Duchess!
