Prince William keen to focus ‘purely on family matters’ with Harry as royal exit is resolved

It’s been claimed that the royal exit review had been ‘hanging over both sides’ for some time

Prince William is reportedly eager to focus on “family matters” as he looks to repair his bond with Prince Harry.

Prince William’s bond with his brother Prince Harry has been the subject of much speculation over recent years. Some have suggested that a so-called “rift” developed between them after the Duke of Cambridge expressed caution when it came to the speed at which Prince Harry’s relationship with his now-wife Meghan Markle was moving.

Prince Harry has previously addressed the "rift" rumors in the ITV documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. Here the Duke of Sussex stated that the pair are currently on “different paths”, but suggested that there was little truth to the speculation.

"Part of this role and part of this job, and this family, being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably, you know, stuff happens.

"But look, we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. And we’re certainly on different paths at the moment, but I’ll always be there for him, as I know he’ll always be there for me,” he declared.

Now it’s been claimed that with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan confirming they will not be returning as working royals, the brothers’ bond could grow closer. According to The Telegraph, palace sources have said that the Duke of Cambridge is eager to focus on “purely family matters” with the Duke of Sussex now that their work ties have been severed.

The publication reports that according to one source: "There is hope that they can all move forward now these loose ends have been tied up once and for all.

"The (one year royal exit) review had been hanging over both sides for some time but now it has finally been resolved, it allows all parties to work on purely family matters."

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan first announced they were stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family last year. It’s understood that they were given a one-year royal exit review, with the deadline believed to be in March 2021. However, last week a Buckingham Palace statement confirmed that the Sussexes will not be returning as working royals.

It concluded with the declaration that: “While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family.”

This news came in what has already been a momentous month for the royal couple. It has been confirmed that the Sussexes are doing a “tell-all” interview with Oprah Winfrey, which has reportedly already been filmed. Whilst she and Prince Harry have also recently shared that they are expecting baby number two.

This will be another Sussex cousin for Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

We can’t wait to see them all meet in the future!
