Prince Philip is said to have reacted with rage after he heard how former daughter-in-law, Sarah Ferguson, rocked the monarchy with scandal and a breakup.

It's claimed the Duke of Edinburgh told his wife the Queen that he was "not going to put up with" Sarah Ferguson anymore after the Duchess of York and Prince Andrew announced their decision to divorce in 1992.

Fergie caused a huge upset with the royal family when she was photographed having her toes sucked while on holiday just months after her separation from Prince Andrew.

And speaking on the Channel 5 documentary, 'When Fergie Met The Monarchy', royal commentators discussed how Fergie was received after the separation. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward told viewers, “Basically after the break-up of the marriage, the family ignores Fergie. Prince Philip is absolutely incandescent with rage with her. Because he feels that she’s let down the monarchy. The monarchy that he has spent his entire life supporting – i.e. his wife, the Queen.'

Prince Philip, who is set to mark his 100th birthday this year, is recovering at home following a successful heart operation. During his hospital stay, Prince Harry and Meghan's bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview was aired. And it's understood the Duke would have wanted to 'bash some heads together' if he were to give advice following their fall-out. Which comes as no surprise considering his reaction to Sarah's scandal.

Mrs Seward continued, "In a few years, Fergie had reduced the reputation of the monarchy to shreds in his mind. He was absolutely not going to put up with it. He said to the Queen, 'She is not coming here. She's out. I don't ever want to see her again'."

Meanwhile, after her divorce from Prince Andrew, it was exposed that Sarah Ferguson had offered to ‘sell access’ to her ex-husband in return for money. Footage surfaced of Fergie asking for cash and a sizeable sum of money via wire transfer in exchange for introducing a reporter to the Prince.

Fergie said in a statement, 'I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment caused. It is true that my financial situation is under stress however, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that this has happened.'

While Fergie was said to have been frozen out of anything to do with the Royal Family for many years after Prince Philip reacts with rage. In recent times, she is reportedly living back at Royal Lodge with her ex-husband suggesting that she has since been accepted back into the fold as the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Fergie has also been spotted attending events including Royal Ascot and was even pictured talking to the Queen there.
