Prince Harry had dreams of bringing Archie up somewhere other than the UK or California

Prince Harry reportedly had dreams of raising his first son, Archie, in Africa. Dame Jane Goodall, the world-renowned primatologist and anthropologist is a close friend of the Duke of Sussex and revealed he wanted Archie “running barefoot with African children.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved from the UK in 2020, relocating to California in a highly publicized exit from life as working royals.

But Harry could have had a different location in mind, per his close friend, Jane Goodall.

The famous primatologist claimed he had dreams of raising his children in Africa, reports Tatler, “he wanted to bring Archie up in Africa, running barefoot with African children.”

Archie was born in the UK in May 2019, and by the end of that same year the family of three had relocated to Canada and then, in early 2020, to the US.

Lilibet was born in the US in June 2021.

Prince Harry’s love of Africa is well documented, and the Duke has visited the continent a number of times over the years.

Just three weeks after their first date, Harry invited Meghan to accompany him on a trip.

“I managed to persuade her to come and join me in Botswana and we camped out with each other under the stars,” he shared.

He also spent time in Mozambique with his ex-girlfriend of seven years, Chelsy Davy, who is from Zimbabwe.

Africa was also the romantic spot where Harry realized Meghan Markle was his “soulmate.”

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex gushed about his fond memories of the continent and why it holds a special place in his heart to this day.

After praising the legacy of the former president of South Africa, Harry discussed how his emotional relationship with Africa has blossomed since his first visit with his mother at the age of 13.

"For most of my life, it has been my lifeline, a place where I have found peace and healing time and time again," he revealed in the poignant address.

Harry used a trip to Africa to “prove people wrong” after going under the radar  showing he “can run his own show.”

Harry also co-founded the charity Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. The organization was established in 2006 and was set up to help children in Africa affected by poverty, inequality, HIV/AIDS and the Coronavirus pandemic.
