Prince Charles has sent a sweet card to royal fans which includes a childhood picture of him and his father Prince Philip.

·  The card was sent to those fans who sent their condolences when Prince Philip passed away last month.

·  One fan shared the card on her Instagram page and revealed what the Prince said, along with a copy of the photo.

·  In other royal news Kensington Palace has released a new picture of Princess Charlotte to mark her 6th birthday.

The fan, known as just Lise M on Instagram, shared pictures of the card, with the words revealing: "The Prince of Wales thanks you so much for your very kind message of sympathy.

"His Royal Highness has been enormously touched by the many generous messages that have been received in recent days; they have provided great comfort at this very sad time. The Prince of Wales sends you his warmest thanks and best wishes."

The picture attached shows the Prince of Wales as a young boy, sat next to his father in a boat. Many fans took to Twitter to claim how 'beautiful' the nostalgic photo was.

The royals will still be remembering Prince Philip's funeral, which took place just two weeks ago at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

The service paid homage to the Duke of Edinburgh's love of the sea, with a number of touching details relating to his time spent serving the Royal Navy.

On the day the Prince of Wales and Princess Royal, the Duke's oldest children, walked behind the coffin and looked emotional as they paid their respects to their father.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away, in early April this year, aged 99, and while the royal family is still contemplating their loss our thoughts go to the Queen who lost her life companion and husband of 72 years.
