Prince Charles has posted a rare childhood photo with an “incredible individual” and fans rushed to support him as they shared his pain at a heartbreaking loss.
- The Prince of Wales took to social media on April 9th as he marked a devastating family anniversary for the first time.
- Prince Charles shared a rare childhood snap with Prince Philip and the Queen and fans were left emotional as they reflected on a year since his passing.
- This royal news comes as it was revealed that Prince Harry is 'to go after Charles and Camilla' with his new book, according to a royal expert.
Though it might seem like only yesterday that Prince Philip and the Queen spent the UK’s lockdown at Windsor Castle together and celebrated his 99th birthday, sadly April 9th marked a year since the Duke of Edinburgh’s passing. Since losing her beloved “strength and stay” the Queen has remained at their Berkshire home and has reflected on him several times in significant messages in the months that followed, including her Christmas 2021 message.
As the difficult date of this first anniversary approached, she and the extended Royal Family recently paid tribute to Prince Philip at a special service of thanksgiving. On the day itself the Royal Family shared a moving poem in his honor, whilst Prince Charles’ childhood photo with his father has left fans very emotional.

Taking to the Clarence House official social media accounts, the Prince of Wales posted a series of snaps of Prince Philip. These ranged from a beautiful picture of him and the Queen with Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla to one of him beaming mischievously.
Prince Charles’ childhood photo was also included, showing him and Princess Anne being excitedly pushed on a swing by Prince Philip, whilst their mother looked on happily, accompanied by one of her dogs.
“Remembering The Duke of Edinburgh today, one year since his passing”, the caption declared simply, with many fans soon responding to express their sympathy on this difficult day.
“❤️❤️❤️ thoughts are with the Queen and the RF....love the pictures especially the one with Charles and Anne on the swing with Prince Phillip and the Queen…”, one fan wrote kindly.
Another person shared their sentiments, commenting, “An incredible individual. Missed greatly, never to be forgotten 💙”.
Whilst someone else reflected on how many of his passions such as conservation are being championed by his relatives as they replied, “Thinking of Her Majesty The Queen, all of their children and grandchildren, family and friends today. He was a man ahead of his time and his loving family are continuing his good work. ❤️”
“Such a beautiful photo of the four of them. Rest in Peace your Royal Highness. You will never be forgotten ❤️,” another shared as a fellow fan wrote, “Legend”.

This heartfelt post featuring Prince Charles’ childhood photo showcased his wonderful bond with Prince Philip, something also highlighted in a poignant message after his father’s death.
"My dear Papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things that have been said about him, and from that point of view we are, my family, deeply grateful for all that. It will sustain us in this particular loss and at this particularly sad time,” he declared at the time.
