Kate Middleton opted for one of Meghan Markle’s style staples for her latest royal visit and she even gave it a Welsh twist to honor the important occasion.

Though many people might still be a little confused about what Kate Middleton’s title will be when Prince Charles becomes King, she will one day become Princess of Wales. As second in the royal line of succession, it’s expected that Prince William will be invested as Prince of Wales himself at this time, making the couple’s royal connection with Wales all the more important. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated this link with their latest outing which took place on St David’s Day, the day of Wales’ Patron Saint.

During their visit, Prince William and Kate undertook a packed schedule of engagements, including a visit to Abergavenny Market where they saw the benefits that local businesses receive from their communities first-hand. For this part of the trip, Kate stunned in a smart outfit that paid homage not only to the Welsh flag, but to her sister-in-law Meghan Markle’s style staple.

As they walked around the market and discovered more about the importance of community to local businesses, the Duchess’ khaki-colored look was an eye-catching choice and reflected one of the key colors in the Welsh flag. Though Kate Middleton’s dresses regularly inspire people across the world, we have a feeling this tailored coat and roll-neck sweater outfit will go down just as well with fans.

The glamorous green SportsMax coat features bold lapels, matching green buttons, and diagonally-sewn pockets. Underneath this classic outerwear piece, Kate wore a roll-neck sweater in an almost identical shade of khaki, as well as black jeans and boots, creating an elegant duo-color look.

Not only does this showcase a form of color-blocking, a style tip that Kate Middleton got from the Queen, but the roll-neck and tailored coat combination is a staple of Meghan Markle’s style.

In September last year, the Duchess of Sussex opted for an elegant navy version of this classic look when she visited One World Observatory in New York with Prince Harry. And who could forget her stunning outfit for her trip to Canada House in London back in January 2020?

Taking place just a day before Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to “step back” as senior royals was announced, the Duchess wore a fitted roll-neck in a rich chocolate brown shade, paired with a caramel-colored tailored coat with prominent lapels.

Meghan Markle might now be living many miles away from her sister-in-law, but when it comes to significant appearances, it seems that Kate Middleton knows how to make this effortlessly elegant and smart style work just as well for her.
