Duchess Kate Middleton always gives us wardrobe envy. And we love the dress she was seen in earlier this week.
- Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in a gorgeous blue dress earlier this week.
- And if you want to get your hands on it, there’s a way to save yourself thousands of pounds with a chic replica.
- In other royal news, here’s how you can get a copy of Duchess Meghan Markle’s £2000 outfit for less than £150.
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge never steps out in anything less than fabulous.
And over the years since she has settled into the royal family her chic ensembles have just got better and better, giving us all the urge to splurge on pretty much everything she wears.
But while the royals do opt for a lot of affordable favourites, some of their choices aren’t the most purse-friendly.
Earlier this week the Duchess attended the launch of the National Emergencies Trust (NET), a charity that provides emergency response to disaster across the UK.
And as always the royal looked amazing when she stepped out for the occasion.
Dressed in a royal blue frock by New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead, the Duchess wowed fans in the long-sleeved waist-defining fit and flare number.
She paired the elegant dress with a pair of sleek black court shoes and sapphire drop earrings.
But unfortunately for anyone hoping to add this to their wardrobe, this particular buy is a thing of the past and is no longer available.
Plus it is likely to have cost around £1000 like the designer’s other options, so it’s quite an investment.
Luckily, high-street store Marks & Spencer has come to the rescue with their elegant alternative – and it’ll set you back only £35.
The long-sleeved fit and flare dress, which is also available in petite, comes in a striking blue just like the Duchess’s.
And if you love the fit, it’s even available in four other colours.
Though we love the black, dark orange and amber colours as they go for pretty much any occasion, we think our favourite pick has to be the fern green.
The forest-like colour is perfect for winter and paired with gold accessories will make a chic ensemble for any festive occasion.
All hail M&S!

Aleesha has worked for woman&home since 2019, when she joined the team as their digital news writer. A year on the news team gained her quick and reactive writing skills and a love for breaking stories, invaluable insight into where to get the best lifestyle releases first, an AOP awards nomination and the nickname ‘crazy watch lady’ after she became so obsessed with the royals that she followed breaking news alerts on her Apple Watch.
Before joining the woman&home team, Aleesha wrote for their sister site GoodtoKnow, where she covered celebrity news, health advice and where to snap up the cheapest lifestyle buys. With a background in beauty, Aleesha has also written for Stylist and Women’s Health where she developed an understanding into what makes a stellar product and which brands are worth paying attention to. She never leaves the house without a slick of lip balm and a good slathering of SPF, cannot live without an eyelash curler by her side and is always on the hunt for new lipsticks to add to her ‘Lipstick of the Day’ Instagram story highlight (and color-coordinated collection).
But it’s not just beauty buys Aleesha can help you with. Social media savviness, strong PR relationships and a need to stay in the know mean she’s all about the latest fashions, clever gadgets and reliable lifestyle buys too. She loves indulging in an interior craze (with a bedroom drowned in prints, plants and pink), is a regular visitor to the Missoma and Edge of Ember 'New In' pages and can’t resist the allure of a kitchen gadget—just ask her three coffee machines.
When she’s not playing around with new products and testing anything she can get her hands on, Aleesha spends most of her time with her head in a current bestseller, catching up on the latest Netflix craze with her sister, trying out new recipes, drinking wine with her bestie and (in non-COVID times) has been known to be a bit of a jetsetter amongst her friendship group. Oh and she makes the most of her Disney+ subscription by watching the Marvel films on repeat (definitely not just for Chris Evans...).
