Duchess of Cornwall responds to birthday wishes with lovely message

Duchess of Cornwall

The Duchess of Cornwall turned 72 today, and received lots of lovely birthday messages from fans and well-wishers all over the world.

The Kensington Palace Twitter account shared a beautiful photo on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The image they chose was taken last month in Normandy, as Camilla attended a Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance.

'Wishing The Duchess of Cornwall a very Happy Birthday today!', the tweet read, along with cupcake and balloon emojis.

Of course, Clarence House marked the occasion too, sharing a photo of the Duchess during her tour of the Caribbean in March. She looked relaxed, opting for a blue kaftan and white trousers in the warmer weather.

In the tweet, Clarence House thanked those who had sent birthday wishes to the Duchess on her behalf, going out to over 800,000 followers who like to stay updated about all the news from The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

Twitter was full of kind birthday messages, with one user writing: 'Wishing The Duchess of Cornwall the most wonderful birthday with plenty of laughter family and friends on her special day.'

Another said: 'Wishing you the happiest of birthdays with your family. It’s always wonderful to see all the hard work you do behind the scenes. Have a wonderful day!'

Camilla will be spending her 72nd birthday on tour in Devon and Cornwall. So far the royal couple have visited the Eden Project and Megavissey, and even had a go at pasty making to mark the 50th anniversary of Ginsters Bakery!

Camilla joked to attendees as she made her pasty, saying: 'I think this is going to be a wibbly-wobbly pasty. With a bit of practice I think I would get the hang of it.'

However she did win praise from Chris Eden, the only Cornish chef to be awarded a Michelin star, who said that Camilla’s first attempt had been ‘better than his first go.’

We hope the Duchess enjoys her birthday celebrations!
