Tom Hardy, star of BBC drama, 'Taboo', and Hollywood films like 'The Dark Knight Rises' has featured in a real life action sequence after helping to catch a moped thief in a chase that went through gardens and across a building site in south west London.
Tom Hardy reportedly performed a citizen's arrest and grabbed the thief by the scruff of the neck. A witness said they heard the star declare: "I caught the c***".
According to The Sun, two men skipped a red light at a busy junction before crashing the stolen moped into a £50,000 Mercedes near Tom's Richmond home.
Speaking to The Sun, 22-year-old witness Arun Pullen said: "It was mental – like he'd switched to superhero mode in an action movie. Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him though my back garden and caught him around the block – but the route was like an assualt course."
Pullen added that he thought Tom had even checked the suspect's ID before the police arrived. He said Tom "is clearly not a man you'd mess with".
Tom reportedly searched the suspect for weapons and held him at a bus stop while he waited for the police to arrive.
According to the Sun, with the help of the Hollywood star, two suspects were detained in connection with the moped theft.
Hardy has appeared in several blockbusters and recently co-wrote and appeared in BBC drama Taboo.
He shares his Richmond home with wife Charlotte Riley, their child and his two rescue dogs. Although the British actor is used to playing the bad guy he certainly has a softer side.
Here are some of Tom's best moments:
1. His love of dogs
He has spoken out about his preference for canines over humans and is known to frequently visit Battersea Cats and Dogs Home. There are also several Instagram accounts featuring Tom holding adorable dogs – you should go check them out.
