Greta Gerwig's Little Women film finally has a trailer - watch it here

By Lucy Buglass
We’re all familiar with Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women, and now there’s another adaptation in the works.
The March family have been depicted on both screen and stage, with actresses such as Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Sarah Davenport and of course, Elizabeth Taylor, stepping into the shoes of the Little Women.
But now there’s a new adaptation in the works, set to release in the UK in December. Here’s everything we know about the newest version.
Is there a trailer?
Yes! The official Little Women Twitter account released the first trailer this week, and it got us even more excited about the upcoming adaptation. You can watch it below.
Who is the Little Women director?
Greta Gerwig is at the helm of this project, following the huge success of her directorial debut Lady Bird. The coming-of-age drama staring Saoirse Ronan was nominated for an impressive five Oscars, receiving worldwide critical acclaim.
Gerwig will be writing and directing the female-led project, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she brings to the table forLittle Women.
Who’s playing the Marsh sisters?
After so many adaptations, it’s a tough act to follow, but the cast for Gerwig’s Little Women is impressive to say the least. Emma Watson will be playing Meg, Saoirse Ronan is back to play Jo, and Fighting With My Family star Florence Pugh will be playing Amy.
The film will also see Australian actress Eliza Scanlen in her first feature film role, playing Beth. She’s known for her work on Sharp Objects as Amma Crellin, and is now taking to the big screen alongside the other leading ladies.

Emma Watson took to Instagram to share a first look at the film, where she posed with fellow co-stars alongside the caption, “I could never love anyone as I love my sisters" - Louisa May Alcott, @littlewomenofficial."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It went on, “💗 From left: Meg March, Greta Gerwig (director), Jo March, Amy March, Beth March and Laurie (Theodore Laurence).”
Who else is in the cast?
Hollywood icon Meryl Streep is Aunt March in this adaptation, which we’re sure will delight fans. She recently impressed audiences during her Big Little Lies debut, where many commented on her character’s sassy attitude.
Streep’s Big Little Lies co-star Lauren Dern is also involved in the project, playing the family’s matriarch, Marmee March.
Timothee Chalamet, who starred alongside Saoirse Ronan in Lady Bird, is lined up to play Theodore ‘Laurie’ Laurence, the ‘boy next door’.
What is the official release date?
The film hits US cinemas on Christmas Day this year, with UK audiences getting it the day after on Boxing Day. Could it be the perfect festive film?
