Portia de Rossi is recovering at home after undergoing surgery last Friday for appendicitis, a representative has revealed.

The actress was taken to the hospital by her wife Ellen DeGeneres, after experiencing extreme pain in her abdomen.

“Ellen was rushed to hospital on Friday night,” the inside source told People magazine. “She was in a lot of pain. It was appendicitis and she had surgery.”

The Hollywood actress has since been discharged and is currently recuperating under Ellen’s care at the A-list couple’s $53 million mansion in Beverly Hills.

“It was a scare at first, but all good now,” the source added.

This isn’t the first time the powerhouse pair’s lives have been struck by sudden illness. In December, Ellen became housebound after testing positive for Covid-19. She took to social media to share the concerning news with her fans and to assure them she was adhering to social distancing protocol.

"Hi Everyone, I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19,” she wrote. “Fortunately, I'm feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines.”

The talk show host star has been no stranger to public scrutiny lately.

She hit headlines at the beginning of the pandemic last March after allegations of workplace mistreatment on the Ellen DeGeneres Show were made by former staffers. In April, crew members on the program spoke out against the show’s failure to communicate with them on issues of pay and working hours. In the summer of 2020, a slew of anonymous staffers shared their negative experiences behind-the-scenes of the popular daytime talk show.

Producers were later accused of a number of heinous acts, including "harassment, sexual misconduct, and assault from top producers.” Ellen responded to the backlash by apologizing and granting extra perks, such as paid time off, to her employees. An internal investigation was launched by Warner Bros. and several staffing changes were implemented.
