Death in Paradise announces the return of fan favourite character in one-off special
A beloved member of the Death in Paradise cast is returning to the show after leaving in 2018
The BBC has announced that Danny John-Jules will be reprising his role as Officer Dwayne Myers for a one-off Christmas special.
Danny John-Jules who played Officer Myers in the beloved series and was last seen in 2018 during the seventh season of the series, is finally returning to Death in Paradise.
It was announced that he will be returning in the one-off special in order to help the team solve a murder case. It has been teased by the BBC that Dwayne is met with open arms by his former co-workers and even comes to realize that he has not only met Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) before, but he once arrested him.

Danny John-Jules said about his return to the show, “It’s always a pleasure going back to the Caribbean. And after four years away, fitting back into the fold should be seamless as I know all the new leading cast members already. I look forward to bringing Dwayne and this tenth-anniversary special script to life.”
Danny will also be joined by the regular cast, Ralf Little as Neville Parker, Joséphine Jobert as Florence Cassell, Tahj Miles as Marlon Pryce, Don Warrington as Selwyn Patterson, and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.
There will also be an exciting number of new cast members who will be joining the show for the one-off special.

Mathew Baynton (Ghosts), Juliet Stevenson (Riviera), Stanley Townsend (Informer), Jocelyn Jee Esien (Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After), Anthony Calf (Poldark), Tessa Bonham Jones (The Trial of Christine Keeler), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris) and Tariq Jordan (Law and Order: UK), can all be expected to pop up as different characters in the Christmas special.
Executive Producer for Red Planet Pictures Tim Key said about this project, “We’ve been talking about a Death In Paradise Christmas episode for years so we’re beyond excited to be finally making one and to be working with Danny again. We can’t think of a better place to spend Christmas than in Saint Marie—it’s still part of our tenth anniversary year after all!”
Not a lot is known about the plot of the feature-length episode. But it has been confirmed that it is written by James Hall, produced by Candida Julian-Jones, directed by Ben Kellett, and will air on BBC One this December.
Death In Paradise has also been confirmed for an eleventh series that will air soon after the Christmas special in January 2022. Series 12 has also been confirmed to follow after the eleventh series.
