Britney Spears has deactivated her Instagram account just days after announcing her engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari, leaving fans worried about the star.

Britney made the announcement about her social media break on her Twitter account, a platform that she uses far less frequently than her Instagram account. The break comes only weeks after her engagement to Sam prompted a warning from a celebrity friend to ‘get a prenup.'

The star said on Twitter, "Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement !!!! I’ll be back soon."

Fans are concerned by this message and think that something more sinister than a social media break is taking place.

"We're not buying it. it's her team who deleted her account cause they didn't like that one post she made about the conservatorship and now they posted that on her Twitter so we won't be suspicious and who tf deletes their account when taking a break?" said one fan.

"Have your lawyer say it! We don't trust your socials! They said this the last time they locked her up against her will!" said another.

Another commenter added, "Not sure I believe this—BUT we hope you're safe! We love you!! #FreeBritney."

Other fans, however, have been supportive of the star's decision to step back from social media. "I’m really happy for you and Sam. Take all the time you need queen," said one commenter on Twitter.

Another chimed in to say, "We love you SO much Britney, enjoy your time off of social media and REALLY enjoy celebrating your engagement with Sam!"

Britney's social media break comes just two days after Britney Spears announced her engagement to Sam Asghari. The star announced her engagement using a photo of herself and her fiancée as she showed off her ring finger.

Her soon-to-be husband also posted a similar image on his own Instagram that announced the happy news.

However, this happy announcement from Britney did receive some flack from celebrity pals. Fellow A-lister Octavia Spencer took to the post to comment, “Make him sign a prenup.”

Britney Spear's net worth was revealed to be an enormous sum recently, so this instruction from Octavia was liked by many fans who also echoed the same message to the singer following her financial struggles and conservatorship.

The singer has been in a conservatorship battle for many years and only in the past few months has Britney Spears’ father stepped down as conservator after he acted as conservator for the star's financial affairs for 13 years.

Following her conservatorship battle and now her recent social media shut down, many fans are still querying is Britney Spears free? Whilst the new Britney Spears Netflix documentary is set to focus on her conservatorship situation.

It is unclear if the fan's worries are warranted or if the star is simply taking a break from social media, but many are hoping that in either case, Britney's break is with her best interests at heart.
