If you're anything like me, you've been counting down the days until Practical Magic 2 is finally in cinemas. And while I'm excited to see what happens with the beloved Owens family, I'm admittedly just as giddy to see those iconic whimsical interiors.
If maximalist interior design is up your street too, you'll have been just as enamoured with the set design in the original 1998 Practical Magic film. With warm woods, charming floral patterns, potion bottles and classic Victorian-style architecture, the set in the first film was a feast for the eyes. More importantly, it was a valuable lesson in making your home feel cosier, witchcraft included or not.

What's immediately clear from the snippets we see of the set in the official trailer is that the Owens family are masters of curated clutter. While the home is filled with things, from decorative china to spiritually charged houseplants, it all feels purposeful and cohesive.
One of the first things that caught our attention throughout the entire home is the use of layered lighting. Not only does this add to the charming yet spooky feel of the film, but it retains that original cosy atmosphere – which is what bewitched audiences back in the 90s.
Lamps are, of course, a great way to do this, but also adding your favourite scented candles for an ambient warm glow makes all the difference. Alternatively, try some incense for an autumnal, witchy twist.
The soft furnishings also add to the cosy appearance of the house, specifically the detailed patchwork throws. Those heavy, heritage patchwork blankets are a perfect way to bring a familial look to the Owens family home and help audiences reminisce not only about the first film but also about their own nostalgic upbringing.
