If you're thinking about spicing up  side dishes or adding flair to your summer cookouts, allow us to introduce you to the season's trendiest dish.

Foodies' new obsession came to a boil on TikTok, seemingly where all the good trends start and snacks achieve viral fame. (Remember the delectable pesto eggs?) Now, everyone is opting for their carbs to be crunchy, and as a result, #pastachips just might force you to do away with the Doritos. The hashtag has garnered over 50 million views, after all.

Whether you're partial to pesto, inclined to go the tomato route, or craving a dollop of ricotta (aren't we all?), then you'll be pleased to know that pasta chips—like the carb in its original form—can be enjoyed however you'd like. Plus, rumor has it that they pair well with a glass of vino, and our favorite low alcohol wines are ready to do the honors.

How do I make pasta chips?

Bring your pasta shape of choice to a boil, then sprinkle your desired seasonings on the dish. From there, pop 'em into the air fryer. There's no specific recipe to follow, and everyone seems to have their own take on achieving the perfect chip. A universal agreement would be to put them in the air fryer on 400 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 7–10 minutes.

No air fryer? No problem

Foodies have also been able to enjoy pasta chips by using a convection or standard oven for roughly the same amount of time. However, you'll want to tone down the heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're not fazed by going the unhealthy route, feel free to get a small serving of oil and try frying the noodles.

What type of pasta should I use?

Pasta chips are personalized—select whatever shape your heart desires. But do note that bowtie pasta (Farfalle) seems to be the most popular and most conducive to dunking (and Instagram posting).

We're preparing to snack as we speak! Pass the pesto, would you please?
