Merry Christmas to me, there's up to 50% off in the Boden sale and these are all the items I'm considering adding to my basket
I've shopped at Boden for years, these are the Boden sale items I'd invest in that will max out their cost-per-wear in your wardrobe
Like most fashion lovers, I look forward to the sales as a chance to grab a bargain, and naturally, my passion for British clothing brand Boden, means that I'm limbered up to shop the Boden sale, because there is up to 50% stacks of items in the brand's winter discounts.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not quite going 'wild in the aisles'. I like to use the Boden sale to soak up the items I haven't quite managed to buy during the season, but haven't stopped thinking about either. So while I'm excited by up to 50% off, I'm not making the mistake of just buying anything, this is a targeted hit list of dresses, separates and sumptuous knitwear that I know I can wear long after this season has come to a close.
And I'm surprised by the great ranges of sizes I've spotted too, with a number of items that I had seen go out of stock in most sizes (like this leopard skirt we spotted on Ruth Jones, seemingly back in every size bar one). So if you're normally a little dubious about stock availability, I'm certain you'll be able to find a little treat here.
My top Boden sale picks
And unlike some sales, where I can sometimes look at stock and think, 'I don't remember seeing that, is that this season's?' The Boden sale is literally packed with winter's big hitters.
Cosy fair isle knits, Apres ski-inspired sweaters, cable patterns, heritage checks and velvet dresses, they're all in there, waiting to be snapped up. With lots of goodies to add to my winter capsule wardrobe, because Boden pieces for the most part are classic, I'm also aware we have at least three more months of chilly climes.
But despite my sale excitement, I won't be losing my head, don't just buy something because the discount is good. Think about your current wardrobe, how you can make an item work with existing favourites and how much wear you will really get out of something.
Boden dresses
The best velvet dresses have been a favourite this season when it came to Christmas party outfits, and while this style has been hugely popular this December, a velvet dress is certainly one you can turn to every festive period. In this gorgeous berry hue, that feels equally seasonal, the button front and belted waist help to create an hourglass silhouette.
If you're still looking to add some festive cheer to your looks, then this tartan dress is a great option. Already on fashion writer Matilda Stanley's hit list, this red design with gorgeous velvet bow offers elegance and timelessness, as well as a chic nod to the big autumn/winter fashion trend 2025, heritage. Pair the sleeveless design with a simple cardigan for added warmth.
This dress gives me real ME+EM feels, but at a fraction of the price. Maybe it's the lace sleeves, or perhaps the jewelled button detailing, but this elevated little black dress is one that can take you from AM to PM. Pair with opaque tights and a boots for a more laidback feel, or lean into the glamour with drop earrings and court shoes.
Boden tops
One of the biggest autumn/winter fashion colour trends of 2025, you can't go wrong with investing in chocolatey hues this season and this practical roll neck is an excellent choice when sale shopping as it will work as a standalone or a layering piece.
A stylish top to wear with jeans this emerald green blouse is one you can wear for the festive season and beyond. For Christmas day itself, team it with a pair of comfortable floaty or velvet palazzo pants, and for best slip it on with a chic pencil skirt for a look that is trend driven but with a timeless quality.
This jersey ruffle blouse delivers on style and comfort with easy. The delicate, lace-like front adds a feminine feel to this otherwise casual piece that will team well with jeans or dresses. For added polish wear it under a blazer, for a look that nails the smart-casual aesthetic.
Boden knitwear
A high-neckline, a fusion of two of this season's favourite colourways, a timeless fair isle design, oh and merino wool. Could this jumper get any more perfect? I think not. Spotted on the likes of Cat Deeley, wear this with flattering A-line skirts for a dressier look, or team with jeans or even a timely pair of chocolate brown suede or leather trousers for a luxe look.
I love an embellished knit and this chic cardigan is one you can wear from autumn through to spring when you want a touch of added, elegant sparkle. The delicate floral design on a chic navy base makes it easy to team with trousers of skirts, or slip it over sheath dresses to add a little bit of fashion flair. While this isn't a chunky winter warmer, it's certainly luxe.
If fair isle gives you too much in the way of festive feels, then the humble cable knit is the sweater style that taps into that effortless heritage trend with ease. This cosy design, features asymmetric button detailing and a chic funnel neck, it's the kind of winter warmer that makes you look forward to the cooler months.
Boden trousers/skirts
Wide-leg trousers is the trend that keeps on giving and when it comes to tailoring, this silhouette is going no where. Leg lengthening, exceptionally flattering and adding a little bit of cool to any look, this classic pair of black trousers is a wardrobe basic that will help make any tops, tees or knits feel that little bit more stylish and current.
This one is going straight in my basket. While the metallic fabrication might not be that timeless, leopard print shows no signs of going out of fashion, and I haven't stopped thinking about this skirt all season, which means I need it. Spotted on Ruth Jones, this design was almost entirely sold out, but some extra stock has appeared in nearly every size.
At 40% off, I can't tell you how much these trousers are worth the investment. Leather trousers have been a consistent autumn trend for several years, and this quiet luxury look is going no where. Unlike their faux counterpart, they're breathable, and the high waist and chic straight leg makes them a winner for teaming with knitwear or shirting.
Boden jackets/coats
With a vintage-esque aesthetic, this gorgeous borg duffle coat is quite the timeless buy. Thanks to the 70s-inspired silhouette, this is one of the best winter coat trends you can invest in, as shearling and borg styles have continued to be popular year after year, making them strong investment choices. The longer line offers plenty of cosy protection.
Heritage checks are a winner this season, but a checked coat will come back around winter after winter. With a cheery pink hue running through this design, I love the khaki base, as it feels elevated and elegant, but not as drab as say black or grey based designs. The tailored fit makes this an excellent choice for smart occasions or daily commutes.
Big, big fan of the Boden parkas, and this 4 in 1 wear delivers on practical styling too. With a removable liner, faux fur trimmed hood, deep front pockets and simple zip and popper closure, I have lived in my khaki Boden coat, that is very close to retirement, but I can attest to its water resistant nature too, that has saved me on many rainy days.
Boden jeans
Searching for the best wide leg jeans? I feel like Boden denim doesn't often get the credit it deserves and this stylish pair of true blues is hoping to change that opinion. A mid rise waist, with statement stitch detailing, these leg-lengthening jeans are staple.
Straight leg jeans are a constant. Universally flattering, this denim design can live in your wardrobe all year long, so you can easily max out its cost-per-wear, especially during sale periods. At under £35, these high rise jeans are definitely worth a try.
Sailor-style jeans might not be making headlines as the denim trend of the season, but this flattering silhouette is definitely one to investigate. With a high waist, flat front and wide-leg design, these are great for supporting curves and elongating your legs.
Boden swimwear
If you didn't know, Boden is actually pretty well regarded when it comes to swimwear and not just for their beach-ready prints. This figure-flattering hot pink swimsuit is perfect for a sunny getaway. The colour will look amazing on the beach and the well-draped fabric and criss-cross front skims over midriffs for a sculpting finish.
I love the sporty feel of this long-sleeved swimsuit. The sleeve and high neck deliver extra protection, plus the athletic aesthetic taps into retro preppy trends that constantly comeback around. The clever colour blocking is not just attractive, it's figure-sculpting too. The central panel and slim side panels help to make you look longer and leaner.
Stripes are set to be a trend for many months to come and stripey swimwear, where the lines go from top to bottom actually helps to lengthen your figure as it draws the eye up your silhouette. The empire line cut is great for bust support, and at £32 this is a great price for some timeless swimwear.
Boden sale shopping tips
Sale shopping in any space can feel overwhelming, but after working in the fashion industry for twenty years, I have created a few rules for myself to make is slightly easier. When it comes to the sales, these are my top tips:
Sign up to our free daily email for the latest royal and entertainment news, interesting opinion, expert advice on styling and beauty trends, and no-nonsense guides to the health and wellness questions you want answered.
- Keep an eye out during the season: Essentially this means, know the collection before items get into the sale. Even if a brand is price prohibitive, if you love it, a sale is a great way of snapping up items for less, but if you've already ear-marked a few favourites pre-sale you'll have a little list of items you actually want when the discounts roll in.
- Don't be led by the % off, follow your heart: This doesn't mean don't think about your purchases, but it does mean don't convince yourself into buying something because it's got loads of money off. If you wouldn't want it at full price (even if you can't get it then), don't buy it just because it's 60% off, it's still 40% on.
- What else will it go with? Even if you do love something in the sale, consider how and when you will wear it. Ideally you want it to go with or be useful for at least 3 different outfits or occasions so that you can be sure it will maximise its cost per wear.
- Use the filter functionality: Even though I spend all day looking at clothes, seeing 1300+ items on the all clothing sale page can overwhelm me. Use the filter system on site to cut down to your specific size and then go through categories individually. It will mean you're only looking at items you could actually get in your size and you're looking at far fewer items at a time.
FAQs
How often does Boden go on sale?
While Boden does run offers throughout the year, including online discount codes, they actually have a constant sale section that is always active. The level of product in it fluctuates, but there is always an option to scroll through the Boden sale section.
