It may still be hot outside, but cooler weather is edging ever closer, and in just a few short weeks I'll be able to embrace my autumn capsule wardrobes again. If you’re starting to think about switching your outfits ahead of new season, a great place to start is with your shoes, and you’ll find all the inspiration you’ll need from one of Jennifer Aniston’s classic looks.

The actress is a master of understated, elegant dressing and one of my favourite looks from over the years is a sleeveless black top and turned-up jean outfit she wore back in 2016. It was such a timeless combination, finished perfectly with a some oversized sunglasses and a pair of black Gucci loafers that made the perfect footnote to her separates. Although Jennifer may have worn this almost a decade ago, it still feels very relevant for right now, and it's a combination I will recreate often for polish in a hurry.

I love everything about this ensemble, and her androgynous flats are a total winner for anybody looking to take their favourite denim into autumn mode, and if you like the fashion throwback look as much as I do, you can find some similar styles to emulate Jen's look below.

While you might not be ready to say goodbye to your most comfortable sandals just yet, it's a good time to invest in some loafers as the key styles often sell out very fast. You don't need to wait until autumn is fully upon us either, as loafers are actually very wearable all year round and will make a modern footnote to everything from your best summer dresses to Bermuda shorts, and will help your outfits transition between seasons in the chicest way.

Jennifer's Gucci flats complete with a horsebit detail have been a huge hit for decades, and are still very popular, so it's no surprise that the high street is filled with affordable doppelgangers. The little metal buckle channels a hint of the western aesthetic into your look without feeling too much and is completely timeless, so it's a shoe you can wear year after year without any worries about it dating.

While it might be too soon for your winter coats or cosy wool jumpers, you really can start to ease into new season with your footwear, and a chic black pair of loafers like Jen's will do the job nicely.
