When Grace Dent appeared on This Morning earlier this week wearing the Claudie Pierlot button-embellished ribbed-knit midi dress, I knew I had found my new go-to staple for autumn dressing.

With a polo collar and button embellishment offering a polished look, her style is so flattering thanks to its fitted silhouette. The ribbed-knit fabric's stretchiness is both curve-contouring and ultra-comfy.

There is also the rich chocolate hue, which perfectly taps into the 2026 autumn trends. Earthy yet glamorous, this warm neutral is one that never fails to match the cosiness of autumn, and Grace complemented the warm hue by accessorising with yellow gold jewellery. Whether for elevated daytime looks or smart casual outfit ideas, I know this is a dress style that’s going to see tons of wear in my autumn outfit rotation. So, while Grace’s exact style is sold out, I’ve been on the hunt for similar styles to shop.

Recreate Grace's autumnal style

Knitwear is an undisputed must-have for your autumn capsule wardrobe, thanks to its cosiness. I have to admit that I tend to neglect dresses during this season, opting instead for jumpers and cardigans that work as layering pieces to wear with jeans, but Grace has firmly returned my attention to knitted dresses and proved that, when I want something slightly smarter, they are a fail-safe option.

Whether styled with ankle boots for a chic daytime outfit or paired with heels for date night outfits, this versatile dress is one I’m going to be relying on for a multitude of different autumn outfit ideas.

While her piece felt polished, I can easily see myself dressing it down with white trainers for a more laidback style that still feels elevated thanks to the sophisticated ribbed knit texture. The more that I think about it, the more outfit ideas come to mind, opening up a whole variety of styling opportunities - just imagine how chic it would look with a trench coat layered over the top.
