Celine Dion makes a case for leather on leather as autumn's answer to double denim
She stunned in the all-black look ahead of a concert in Paris
Leather is a fabric we see without fail every autumn. The smooth finish and luxe look are exactly why it keeps coming back, but Celine Dion gave it a fresh spin when she stepped out in Paris wearing a double leather ensemble.
She was photographed wearing head-to-toe Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann. Combining a black leather jacket featuring statement lapels with a matching leather pencil skirt, her monochrome style demanded attention and looked beautifully polished and playfully fashion-forward, too. To finish off her look, she slipped into a pair of Tom Ford ankle strap pumps.
While leather on leather, like double denim, can feel like an out-there option for autumn outfit ideas, Celine proves that the statement look can be both wearable and chic.
Recreate Celine's style
Like Celine, style this skirt with a matching leather jacket, or throw on a simple T-shirt and a pair of comfortable trainers to dress it down. It's also super affordable.
Whether you go faux or choose the real deal, doubling up on leather like Celine is a surefire way to create a winning look this season.
Opting for all-black grounds the fabric and gives it a timeless edge, plus the silhouettes she chose also work hard. As is the case when we’re relying on the slightly bulkier silhouettes of the best autumn jackets, balance was key for Celine. She created a proportional silhouette by choosing a leather jacket with a cropped length that showed off the high waist of her skirt, while the sleek pencil cut worked to balance out the structured shoulders and slightly boxy fit of her jacket.
Everything worked in tandem, and this is a tip you can reverse by choosing a sleek-fitting jacket if you opt for a pair of wide-leg leather trousers. Keep the balance, tie in textures and tones with your choice of accessories - and, of course, rock Celine’s confidence to look totally chic.
