Kate Middleton did not accompany Prince William to support Prince Charles at the State Opening of Parliament today due to scheduling conflicts, it has been revealed.

Kate Middleton didn't join Prince William to watch Prince Charles deliver the Queen's Speech at the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday—and there's a very good excuse for her absence.

The Queen canceled the important appearance for the first time in 59 years yesterday evening, citing 'episodic mobility issues' as the reason for her no show.

At Her Majesty's request, the Prince of Wales stepped in at the last minute to read the speech on her behalf. The annual address, which outlines the government's plans for introducing new laws in the coming parliamentary year, kicked off to a full House of Lords at 11.35am and lasted 13 minutes.

Prince Charles was accompanied by Duchess Camilla, the Queen Consort, for the historic occasion. The 74-year-old wore a Fiona Clare navy coat with a wide-brimmed, navy and white hat, as well as a matching Chanel handbag, to support her husband during his high-profile appearance. Charles looked equally dapper, donning a military uniform adorned by medals as he sat next to the Imperial State Crown.

The Duke of Cambridge was also present, having arrived at the Houses of Parliament in London shortly after 11am. He walked respectfully behind his father and stepmother through the Royal gallery before taking a seat to the left of Charles.

The Duchess of Cambridge was unable to join, however, due to important engagement commitments in a totally different part of the country.

Kate is scheduled to attend the official opening of the Glade of Light memorial in Manchester, which has been erected to pay tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017, later today.

The 40-year-old will lay flowers in tribute to the 22 people who lost their lives during the horrific incident and meet with bereaved families at a private ceremony at the city's cathedral after the event.

Prince William is also expected to attend the solemn gathering.
