Queen Elizabeth's brooches are her constant companion and she's seldom seen without one proudly placed on her lapel. During a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the monarch chose to match her brooch to the color of her stunning lavender outfit.

Alongside her perfectly pastel look, Her Majesty opted for a piece of jewelry that honors Scottish history. Wearing a brooch designed to emulate a Scottish thistle, much like the ones that grow on the estate of her favorite Scottish abode, Balmoral Castle, the monarch looked absolutely thrilled to see her subjects.

The event in question, held at Edinburgh's Palace of Holyroodhouse, saw a parade of the armed forces in the Scottish city, in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee. As well as meeting with the armed forces, she was also presented with the key to Edinburgh Castle.

BBC News reports that her visit also marks the 200th anniversary of King George IV's visit to Scotland in 1822 when the castle key was presented to the British sovereign for the very first time.

Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich, the governor of the castle, told the news site that the Queen was on, "first class, sparkling form." Adding, "The fact that she wanted to take part in both the arrival ceremony and now she's here in her palace in the center of Edinburgh and coming out into the garden to see her armed forces is really special."
