Sarah Ferguson says she's a great supporter of Oprah—as she reacts to Meghan and Harry's interview

The Duchess of York has praised Oprah Winfrey, while also wishing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle well.

The royals have kept quiet about their feelings towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah earlier this year—but Sarah Ferguson has revealed her thoughts.

The Duchess of York, who was famously interviewed by Oprah in 1996, told the Telegraph, "All I want to say on this is that Oprah helped me greatly when I went to the US and was interviewed by her. I’m a great supporter of Oprah and everything that she does."

It's the first time she's commented on it since their explosive interview with the chat show host, and went on to say to the Duke and Duchess, "I wouldn’t presume to give advice to Harry and Meghan, except to say to be happy."

In the interview, which aired in March, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talked about the constant press intrusions, as well as being part of the royal family. Meghan even revealed that her mental health suffered so much that she considered taking her own life. 

In her 1996 interview, the Duchess of York had just split with Prince Andrew and famously told Oprah, "You didn't marry the fairy tale, you married a man."

The couple now live in the same house, and although she didn't confirm they are back together she told the Telegraph,  "All I can say is that we’re happy with the way we are right now."

The children's author, also recently revealed, in the wake of Princess Diana's statue unveiling to mark her 60th birthday, the promise she made to the late mother of Prince William and Harry.

”We promised each other we would always be together—there was never any daylight between us,” she told People magazine. “But everybody wanted that, because we were so strong together. People want to break something so strong.

“She taught me so much of public life. She was so brave. We used to have the most incredible time together.”
