The royal family have released three new photographs of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to celebrate her 70th birthday.

The Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne, has posed for a set of new portraits to mark her milestone 70th birthday.

“The photographs were taken by John Swannell at The Princess’ home, Gatcombe Park, in February this year. #PrincessRoyalAt70”

Her brother, Prince of Wales, also paid tribute to Princess Anne on her special day by sharing a collage of photographs from their childhood.

The caption read, “Wishing The Princess Royal a very happy 70th Birthday. Let’s take a look back at some family photos through the decades… #PrincessRoyalAt70 @theroyalfamily”

Royal fans flocked to wish Princess Anne a happy birthday and praised The Princess Royal for always being such a “hard working” member of the family.

“Amazing hard working member of The Royal Family,” wrote one fan.

Another said, “Happy Birthday Princess Anne! Thank you for all of your service.”

Their comments come just one month after Princess Anne was crowned the most charitable royal in a recent survey.

The Queen’s daughter has made the most charity visits out of the royal family in the past year - having made 73 royal patron visits to her chosen charities in the last year.

Princess Anne – who lives in Gatcombe Park, an 700-acre estate nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds and is also home to her daughter Zara’s home – was once dubbed the most hard-working royal as she attended a huge number of engagements.

But that title was taken from her as her brother, the Prince of Wales, was named the hardest working royal of 2019.

Impressively, Charles attended 521 functions – beating his sister Princess Anne for the first time.

The princess still carried out 506 events in 2019 – which is still an exceptional effort.

Prince Charles and Princess Anne have taken on more official engagements since the Queen and Prince Phillip started reducing their outings in the mid-1990s.
