Her Majesty the Queen has penned a new letter to royal fans that sent birthday well-wishes on her 94th birthday.

The Queen sent a letter of thanks to those royal supporters that reached out to her on her 94th birthday.

A royal fan, Katherine - who runs the @katsroyalletters fan account on Instagram, shared the letter from Windsor Castle.

It read, "The Queen thanks you for the card and picture you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty's ninety-fourth birthday."

With the world facing a global pandemic, Her Majesty recognised those who took the time out to send their well-wishes.

"In this current situation, the Queen is most grateful for your kind words of support and your thought for Her Majesty is greatly appreciated," the letter went on to say.

The Queen's birthday looked a little different this year as she continues to self-isolate at Windsor Castle with husband, Prince Philip.

While lockdown might have halted the Queen's usual celebrations - including Trooping The Colour - the 94-year-old is said to be in "excellent spirits" and "making the most of lockdown".

According to Vanity Fair, an insider has revealed that she is in high spirits, despite the fear surrounding the deadly virus and is “making the most of the time” in lockdown by “riding out every day”.

The insider said, “One of the nicest things for the Queen is that she is getting to spend more time with her husband than she usually would. They have dinner together in the evenings and I imagine the Queen is of the generation where she dresses for dinner.”

While Her Majesty is following the government’s advice to self-isolate as her age puts her in the “vulnerable” category, the Queen is said to be keen to get back to work whenever it is safe to do so.

“The Queen is planning to come back to work and when she does I think we’ll see her work harder than ever,” the source revealed. “I think we will see her doing private audiences again and more of the work we are used to seeing her do in public at some point in the future.”
