Princess Beatrice is set to marry fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this year. And now broadcasters have confirmed an important detail.

Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to now-fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi back in October.

And while royal fans might have hoped to get a glimpse of the nuptials like they did for the May 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle, it seems like they might be disappointed.

Because two major broadcasters have now confirmed that they won’t be airing the royal wedding.

BBC and ITV both confirmed that they would be running coverage of Princess Beatrice’s wedding, with an ITV spokesperson reiterating that they “definitely won’t” be including it in its daytime schedule.

However, BBC has said that it will offer news coverage of the big day across its channels.

This might be seem odd considering the extensive coverage that was given to the Sussexes’ wedding back in 2018.

In the same year ITV also ran a three-hour special of Beatrice’s older sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding day to businessman Jack Brooksbank.

During the long segment the royal’s wedding ceremony was broadcast live for fans to see.

It is thought that a reason for the lack of coverage could be the recent scandal surrounding Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s father Prince Andrew, after which he was forced to step down from royal duties.

A royal expert recently revealed that Beatrice is rethinking her wedding plans, not wanting to have such a lavish affair as her younger sister did.

"I think they're going to have to rethink the arrangements for Beatrice's wedding,” royal correspondent Jennie Bond revealed on ITV’s Lorraine.

"She's marrying a man called Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and I think they were planning something along the lines of Eugenie's wedding."

"There were outcries over security costs for the taxpayer,” she added, “and I don't think they'll want a similar embarrassment for Beatrice so I imagine that will be scaled down somewhat”.
