Prince William is 'supportive' of Duchess Camilla becoming Queen and has moved on from their past conflicts, according to an inside royal source.

Prince William is 'supportive' of Camilla Parker Bowles' new title as Queen Consort, according to a royal insider.

The Queen confirmed on Saturday that the Duchess of Cornwall will be Queen when Prince Charles is crowned King, bringing an end to years of speculation over the future of her role in the British monarchy. Her Majesty's decision has been warmly welcomed by the Prince of Wales, who made an adorable tribute to his wife of sixteen years in celebration of the news.

As for Charles' eldest son, Prince William, accepting Camilla as Queen has been a more complicated journey.

It's understood that the Duke of Cambridge, 39, endured "huge family rows" during the early stages of his father's relationship with the Duchess of Cornwall—an ordeal that likely exacerbated his suffering in the aftermath of Princess Diana's 1997 death. Prince Charles' extramarital affair with Camilla was largely blamed by William for his mother's unhappiness when she was alive and continued to be a sore point after she had died.

Fortunately, it looks like these resentments have healed over time. Prince William attended the civil wedding of Camilla and Charles in 2005, alongside his younger brother Harry, and has reportedly put their rocky past behind them.

"He is not particularly close to his stepmother but they get on perfectly well and are quite the blended family now," a palace source told the Daily Mail on Monday.

It's understood that William will respect Her Majesty's 'sincerest wishes' that the Duchess become Queen when Charles ascends the throne, having always believed "what is right" for his grandmother is "right for him."

"The Duke is supportive," the source added.

Prince Harry, on the other hand, may not be quite so approving of the monarch's call. It's been reported that the Duke of Sussex, who has yet to publicly congratulate the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee 2022, was never able to bond with his stepmother after holding her responsible for the breakdown of his parents' marriage in 1992.

Last month, it was even alleged that Prince Charles fears Prince Harry will cause 'reputational damage' to Camilla with his upcoming royal memoir.

"Harry is fiercely loyal and protective of his late mother and her legacy, and didn’t approve of Camilla sweeping in as the great love of his father’s life," a source told the Daily Mail. "Understandably he found those early years incredibly difficult, and he might publicly blame Camilla for much of what he believes went wrong in his childhood, and the trauma the whole situation caused."
