Prince William has spoken about his experience as a helicopter pilot to deliver a thank you message to frontline workers.
- The Duke of Cambridge served for almost five years as a helicopter pilot with the RAF's Search and Rescue Force.
- He's now spoken out about his experience, urging frontline workers to reach out if they're struggling with their mental health.
- This follows royal news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made a huge change to their Instagram account.
What did Prince William say about his experience?
In a video released today to thank frontline workers and urge them to reach out if they are struggling with their mental health, William said, "From my time with the air ambulance, I know all too well how determined frontline workers are to put a brave face on and keep going."
Urging key workers to take care of themselves, he continued, "I wanted to say a huge thank you from myself and Catherine for all that you are doing to keep everyone safe.
"You and your families are making huge sacrifices and we want you to know that the whole country is enormously proud of you.
"The challenges you are facing, day in and day out, are unprecedented.
"Even in normal circumstances, frontline work can take its toll, not just on your physical health but also on your mental wellbeing."
Recalling his own experience, the Duke added, "When you spend all day taking care of others, it is easy to forget that you need to take care of yourself too.
"But it is okay to say when you aren't okay."
He added, "And there is support available to you, if and when you need it.
"Our Frontline is a new initiative which provides round the clock, mental health support to frontline staff and key workers in these unprecedented times."
