Prince William shares heartfelt message of support for Boris Johnson

Prince William and the Queen are among members of the royal family sending their well-wishes to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

  • Prince William wished the PM a 'speedy recovery' after the Queen sent a message to Boris' partner Carrie Symonds and to the Johnson family.
  • The PM was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening and was transferred to intensive care last night.
  • This follows royal news that the Duchess of York also sent a message of support.

The news that the PM had been transferred to an intensive care unit a day after being admitted to hospital came as a shock to many people in the UK.

As the Prime Minister receives the care he needs to battle COVID-19, the royals have joined in in sending messages of support for a speedy recovery.

The Duke of Cambridge shared his message on the official Kensington Palace Twitter account, which read, 'Our thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family, who like so many in the UK and around the world are affected by coronavirus. We wish him a speedy recovery at this difficult time. W'

Prince William's public message follows Buckingham Palace's statement which revealed the Queen has sent a personal message to Boris' fiancée Carrie Symonds and his family.

The statement on Twitter read, 'Earlier today The Queen sent a message to Carrie Symonds and to the Johnson family. Her Majesty said they were in her thoughts and that she wished the Prime Minister a full and speedy recovery.'

It's understood the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have also sent the PM a message.

In an update earlier today, a spokesperson for the government revealed the PM does not have pneumonia and has remained “stable” overnight and “remains in good spirits".

Boris' fiancée Carrie, who's six months pregnant, has recently revealed that despite not being tested, she was also having symptoms of the virus but is improving.

She wrote on Twitter over the weekend, 'I’ve spent the past week in bed with the main symptoms of Coronavirus. I haven’t needed to be tested and, after seven days of rest, I feel stronger and I’m on the mend.'
