Prince William and Kate Middleton have made a bold decision about their future, new reports claim. Sources close to the royals suggest that the pair will move their family – sons Prince George and Prince Louis, and daughter Princess Charlotte – out of London for good, settling in Windsor.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly planning to move out of London for good, relocating to Windsor.
- The move will see them closer to Her Majesty the Queen, who made Windsor Castle her permanent residence earlier this year.

It’s a big year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – Kate Middleton turned 40 in January and William is hitting that same important birthday on June 21. With these milestones, it would appear the pair have been planning ahead for their future, and this will involve the Cambridges leaving London.
The family is set to relocate to a house on the Queen’s Windsor estate this summer, according to reports in The Sunday Times.
It’s believed the family of five will move into one of the bigger houses on the estate because Prince Charles has no plans to spend as much time at Windsor Castle when he is king as the Queen does now.
The Queen left Buckingham Palace for good and made Windsor Castle home earlier this year.
William and Kate’s decision to move to Windsor will allow the future heir to spend more time with his grandmother, but the move will also have the family closer to Kate’s parents. The Middletons live in Bucklebury, a 45-minute drive away.
The other motivation behind moving out of London is to give the children more freedom and a different way of life.
A source said, “The reality is they are quite confined in what they can do in London. The kids can’t go into the park and kick a football with friends. Their plan is to be there for the next ten to 15 years and then move to Anmer, which is so special to them.”
The children will likely be taken out of their school, Thomas’s Battersea, and enrolled in one close to Windsor.
When they move, Kensington Palace will remain the family’s London home, housing their private and press office, and the family will make regular trips to Anmer Hall, their Norfolk estate.
“They absolutely love it up there - it’s their happy place,” a source close to William has said before. Their plan is to make Anmer a permanent base “after the school years.”
