Prince Louis took style inspiration from his dad at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last week, showing up to his great-grandmother's birthday parade in an outfit identical to one worn by a young Prince William.

Prince Louis was the spit and image of a young Prince William at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last week, wearing an adorable outfit identical to one worn by his father over three decades ago.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's youngest child joined Prince George and Princess Charlotte for Her Majesty's birthday parade before the Trooping the Color on Thursday ‒ and let's just say, he couldn't have looked more precious. Sitting between his two older siblings for his royal carriage debut, the sweet four-year-old had all eyes on him as he waved to spectators and pulled cheeky faces throughout the procession.

Louis' outfit, a white sailor's suit with a navy neckerchief and nautical tar flap, was another source of amusement, as fans gushed over its touching origins online.

The marine ensemble was last seen when Prince William wore it to celebrate his grandmother's Trooping the Color in 1985, as part of a longstanding tradition of dressing royal children as sailors. The custom reportedly dates back to the 1840s when Queen Victoria ordered a child-sized sailor's outfit for her son, King Edward VII, as a surprise for her husband, Prince Albert. It's understood that the royal consort liked it so much that he later commissioned German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter to paint a portrait of the four-year-old wearing it.

Prince Louis wasn't the only royal child who was compared to his parents over the Jubilee festivities. The first pictures of Lilibet Diana, which were released on Saturday, have drawn a plethora of comments about her physical similarities to both Meghan and Harry as children. Kate Middleton has also shown Princess Charlotte to be her mini-me in the past, styling her hair similarly to the cherubic seven-year-old for a ceremony back in April.
