New book reveals it was Prince Harry’s decision to quit royal life – not Meghan’s

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new biography suggests Prince Harry was the driving force behind quitting the royal family, not Meghan Markle.

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the shock decision to step down from royal life earlier this year – Meghan has been pinned as the driving force. And the term "Megxit" was coined.

But now, the couple’s new bombshell biography - Finding Freedom – will make it clear it was Prince Harry who made the decision.

A book insider told The Sun, “That word ‘Megxit’ in particular has always angered Prince Harry. It gives the impression that the decision to walk away from the Royal Family was Meghan’s.

“The reality is Harry drove that decision. The book will make that clear and explain why it had to happen. The truth is Harry had been unhappy for a long, long time.”

And it was a decision he mulled over for more than a year.

“He wanted to move in the direction that they did and had been considering it for more than a year.”

While Meghan was supportive of her husband, she made sure cutting ties with his family was definitely what he wanted to do.

The insider added, “Meghan supported Harry’s decision. But there was more than one occasion where she asked him if he was certain it was what he wanted.

“And she always made it clear she would support him in whatever he did.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced a lot of scrutiny in the months leading up to their departure and Harry said there “really was no other option” but to seek a quiet life away from the limelight to raise their son Archie.

The book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan, and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, is set to be released on August 11.
