Prince Charles has given an update on how his father, Prince Philip, is doing after three days in hospital.

Prince Philip was admitted to hospital on Friday, in what Buckingham Palace explained was due to a ‘pre-existing condition’.

The royal is still in hospital, and seems unlikely he will join the rest of the family to celebrate Christmas.

Prince Charles gave an update on how his dad is doing while visiting to flood-hit communities in South Yorkshire, revealing that he’s being well looked after.

According to Hello!, he told a reporter, "He's being looked after very well in hospital," the royal replied. "At the moment that's all we know."

When asked by a member of the public, the prince also added, "When you get to that age things don't work so well!"

The news that the Duke of Edinburgh had been taken to hospital in London from Norfolk, where he spends a lot of his time now he’s retired from royal duties, was announced on Friday afternoon.

The statement read, ‘The Duke of Edinburgh travelled from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition. ‘The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor.’

On the same day, the Queen travelled to Sandringham to begin her Christmas break, a day after she marked the State Opening of Parliament on Thursday.

We wish the Duke a speedy recovery.
