Prince Charles speaks out for the first time after testing positive for COVID-19

Prince Charles has taken to Instagram to thank fans for their well-wishes as he battles coronavirus.

Last night, Clarence House's official Instagram page posted a picture of Prince Charles with a message from His Royal Highness.

The caption read, 'Thank you for all your "Get Well Soon" messages for His Royal Highness.

'He is enormously touched by your kind words.'

Fans were quick to show their support, with one commenting on the post, 'Speedy recovery Your Royal Highness!'

Another added, 'Get well soon, dear Prince.'

A third commented, 'Take care and get well soon, your royal highness.'

Is Prince Charles the only royal who has COVID-19?

Prince Charles was the first member of the Royal Family to have contracted COVID-19.

'In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland,' said a spokesperson for the royal.

'The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.'

Charles also made a plea to fans after the coronavirus outbreak has affected industries across the country.

The Prince of Wales shared a statement in his website with an update about royal correspondence.

‘Please be aware that due to operating restrictions caused by Coronavirus measures, our capacity to deal with correspondence is currently reduced,’ wrote the heir apparent in a statement.

‘Our ability to reply to letters and cards will take longer than usual,’ he continued, adding that, ‘this applies to correspondence for The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’.

‘As a result we are asking if correspondents would help by considering whether their communication is necessary or whether it might wait until the situation has resolved’.
