The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have taken to social media to pay tribute and reveal how 'shocked and saddened' they are at the death of a UK MP, Sir David Amess.
- The MP was stabbed while working at his constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, yesterday.
- The royals' well wishes were followed by a tribute from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The news of the MP's death, which has now been classed as a terrorist incident, has shocked the whole country. Sir David Amess, who had served as an MP for 38 years, was stabbed while at work in Leigh on Sea.
Last night William and Kate took to their Twitter account to pay tribute to him and send well wishes to his family.
The tweet, which has had over 300 comments, said, "We are shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess, who dedicated 40 years of his life to serving his community."
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues. W & C."

UK PM Boris Johnson, who is due to lay flowers at his Essex constituency today, also paid tribute to the MP.
He said, "All our hearts are full of shock and sadness at the death of Sir David Amess MP. He was one of the kindest, nicest, most gentle people in politics."
While former Prime Minister Theresa May left a tribute on her Twitter account which said, "Heartbreaking to hear of the death of Sir David Amess. A decent man and respected Parliamentarian, killed in his own community while carrying out his public duties. A tragic day for our democracy. My thoughts and prayers are with David’s family."
David Cameron echoed her thoughts and wrote, "This is the most devastating, horrific & tragic news. David Amess was a kind & thoroughly decent man - & he was the most committed MP you could ever hope to meet. Words cannot adequately express the horror of what has happened today. Right now, my heart goes out to David’s family."
Sir David Amess was one of the UK's longest-running MPs and was knighted in 2015.
