How Kate and William will continue to break royal tradition with Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s new school in Windsor
Prince William and Kate Middleton have enrolled the Cambridge children at Lambrook School in Windsor, according to royal insiders
Prince William and Kate Middleton broke a longstanding royal tradition with Prince George and Princess Charlotte's school choice in London – and it doesn't look like they're about to backtrack on the decision after their move to Windsor.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton broke a longstanding royal tradition in 2017 with their choice of Prince George's first school, Thomas's Battersea.
- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will reportedly stand by their decision to reject the custom as they move to Windsor with their three children this summer.

Prince William and Kate Middleton broke an archaic tradition in the Royal Family when it came time to enroll their eldest son in primary school, and it looks like they've stood by the bold decision to this day.
Prince George began his formal education at the age of four in September 2017, leaving Westacre Montessori in Norfolk to start Year One at Thomas's Battersea in London. He would be joined by Princess Charlotte in 2019, who had just graduated from the Willcocks Nursery School near the Cambridges' family home of Kensington Palace.
Like many of the alma maters attended by their royal ancestors, including Prince William and Harry's Ludgrove and Eton College, the elite preparatory school required hefty tuition fees and was attended by the children of some of Britain's most privileged families. Thomas's Battersea also had a reputation for excellent academic results and enforcing a no-nonsense code of conduct, including a strict uniform rules that even Prince George and Princess Charlotte had to follow.
However, it also had one major difference from the previous schools of Royal Family members.
While Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as all of the Queen's children, attended single-sex schools, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have only ever experienced a co-educational learning environment. It's understood that William and Kate were keen on Thomas's Battersea because it welcomed pupils of all genders, thereby allowing their eldest son and only daughter to go to the same school.
The Cambridge kids will reportedly start a new school in September, following their parents' decision to move the family to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. It's understood that they have already been enrolled at the prestigious Lambrook School, where they will continue their education in a mixed-sex setting. Prince Louis will also be joining George and Charlotte this time around, after more than two years at the Willcocks Nursery.
