Mayor of London Sadiq Khan declined Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's invitation to meet them at their mansion in California last week, it has been revealed.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's invitation to Sadiq Khan to meet at their Californian home was rejected because of 'logistical' issues, it has been reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex offered to host the London mayor at their $14 Santa Barbara mansion during his trip to the US last week, after declining to attend a VIP party he hosted in West Hollywood, according to the Evening Standard.

Unfortunately, Khan wasn't able to squeeze in a visit to the royal couple's home during his time in the States. The 51-year-old's rooftop shindig was located a 90-minute-drive from Meghan and Harry's house in Montecito, making the engagement simply unfeasible in such a tight timeframe.

The British politician traveled to the US earlier this month, landing in New York on May 9 to kick off a five-day-long bicoastal tour. The tax-payer-funded trip, intended to boost London's tourism and tech industries, saw Khan launch a campaign at Times Square and meet with billionaire former mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg. He also held a 45-minute-long meeting with former US presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, at the Clinton Foundation offices in Manhattan.

Once he'd finished up business in New York, he flew to the West Coast to lead a delegation of female tech entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, before making visits to Google and LinkedIn. It's understood that the purpose of these engagements was to attract tech heavyweights to invest more capital in London. He also appeared at a Q&A session for Stanford University students and threw the ceremonial opening pitch at the San Francisco Giants’ stadium.
