Royal fans are doting over adorable new pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's rescue dog Momma Mia.

New photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's rescue dog, Momma Mia have surfaced via a Californian news station - and fans love the adorable pictures.

The first of the three pictures shows Momma Mia with one of her puppies, cuddling up together. While the other two show her lying down and playing with a toy.

It was revealed that Meghan and Harry welcomed a new family member this week - adopting the 'older' rescue dog from an animal rescue center in California. The couple paid a private trip to the Beagle Freedom Programme in North Hollywood, where they met the adorable pup and her eight puppies.

However instead of opting to rescue one of her puppies Prince Harry and Meghan, who scored a victory this week, with the huge success of her podcast, decided to adopt the 'traumatized' beagle, who had been rescued from a research and breeding plant in Virginia, rather than one of her eight newborn puppies.

The new photos, especially the first one which showed Mia cuddled up with one of her puppies, caused a stir on social media, with royal fans excited about how adorable they were. One fan tweeted, "This is one of the reasons I adore Meghan and Harry," while another one went on to say, "Oh god love her she will have the best life now."

Director of the shelter and animal rights attorney Shannon Keith, said that Meghan and Harry initially came to see the dogs after opening hours to the public had ended.

Shannon also revealed to the Los Angeles Times, "The Duchess is holding Mia and was like, ‘We’re adopting her. No, we don’t want a Christmas puppy. We want ones we can help who are older.'"

She went on to say, "They made a point to adopt a rescue named Mia, who most would overlook because she is older, has health issues, and is traumatized by her past," she explained.

"I was so impressed by their commitment to animal welfare! They have been following up letting us know how well Momma Mia is doing in her new, amazing home!"

We can't wait to see more adorable photos of the cute pup!
