On Thursday Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall attended a National Literacy Trust event and made a statement with a versatile black cape.
- The Duchess of Cornwall chose to accessorise her maxi dress with a fashionable black cape on Thursday.
- This isn’t the first time the Duchess has opted for one, as it seems she’s a big fan of them.
- This follows royal news that this iconic royal photo of Princess Margaret will be recreated in The Crown.
Camilla attended a reception to mark the seventh anniversary of the National Literacy Trust’s Books Unlocked Programme, which was held at the KPMG café in Mayfair, London.
During the reception, they celebrated a scheme that gives free copies of Booker Prize shortlisted titles to prison library groups, and the Duchess sat in the front row to listen to the talk.
Peter Florence, Chair of Judges for the 2019 Booker Prize, spoke with British-Turkish author Elif Shafak about the initiative. The Duchess of Cornwall also spoke to the novelist about her work, as part of a discussion, which will be shared with prisoners.
The discussion was recorded by National Prison Radio, and is expected to be broadcast to almost 80,000 cells in prisons across England and Wales, including young offender institutions.
Capes like Camilla’s are set to be big this season and have already featured on catwalks in London, Milan and New York fashion weeks. So it seems she’s more than ready to be part of the trends!
Recently, Duchess Camilla joked about being a ‘good wife’ whilst on a royal engagement.
Prince Charles was in Japan at the time, whilst the Duchess of Cornwall visited The Bath Soft Cheese company.
Prince Charles also showed his emotional side, when he revealed thatsomething his eldest son Prince William had told him had ‘practically reduced him to tears’.
The Prince of Wales opened up about this experience in his new ITV documentary, which gives viewers more insight into the Duchy of Cornwall and the importance of its heritage.
We look forward to seeing what the royal couple get up to next!
